she wasn't there when they found him
cause she'd left him to fall where he would.
she waited by the door with a gun in her hand,
and she shot him just because she could.

on the whole, he wasn't a bad man.
he was a solid man. he was good.
still, to her he was nothing but a stranger,
and she shot him just because she could.

the sheriff never arrested the shooter
cause he never asked questions he should,
but two things he knew: that he loved her...
and she shot him just because she could.
